GET TO KNOW IT GIRL | JAYE GREEN

Sydney-based creative Queen Jaye Green @jayegreen chats to us about what inspires her, how she likes to spend her days and her top tips for travelling the world. She truly is a real life angel!

HOME TOWN?

Sydney, Australia. Though I actually grew up in the sunshine state, Queensland, I’ve lived down in Sydney for a few years now.

WHAT DID YOU STUDY?

I studied a Bachelor of Fashion and Creative Industries at Queensland University of Technology. It was meant to be a four year course but I didn’t stick around for all of it... oops! I loved the hands on side of it all, but for me personally, I felt there was too much of an analytical, theory-based approach to a creative subject and it seemed unnecessary at the time. So I stopped my course a few years in and started working full time within the fashion industry instead.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

My “job” is a little bit all over the place but I basically do content creation for brands and my own social media and occasionally some modelling. I’m currently working on something pretty exciting though, which will more than likely take up most of my time once it’s all in place so you’ll have to stay tuned for that a little later in the year!

A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR LIFE?

If i’m home in Sydney it generally consists of a morning workout, maybe coffee (or tea) with a girlfriend, a whole bunch of emails and admin from home, styling and shooting new looks and content, attending different brand events or gifting suites, and organising new collaborations. In the Summer once my boyfriend gets home we generally go for an afternoon dip in the ocean as we’re lucky enough to live by the beach... our nights usually end with a home cooked dinner, glass of wine and some dark chocolate.

FAVOURITE TRAVEL DESTINATIONS?

This is hard. Everywhere I’ve been has its own incredible feeling and energy. Although I adore cities like Paris and New York, something about India has truly captured my heart. I feel a deep connection to India, it’s like no other place I’ve experienced.

NEXT STOP?

Most of the time my travels are spontaneous and very last minute... but I think I’m heading back to Paris very soon!

TOP 3 TIPS FOR TRAVELLING?

Firstly, on the flight always bring tea tree, eucalyptus and rosehip essential oils. Teatree and eucalyptus to lather on your neck and chest to help kill off any germs you may breathe in. Tea tree is a great natural antibacterial and can double as a spot treatment for any breakouts the flight may cause. Rosehip is for moisture for the face, hands, neck... it’s the holy grail of a hydrating oil that won’t clog your pores! Secondly, don’t over plan or overbook when you travel. Try to live in the moment wherever you are and just go with whatever feels right at the time. Don’t be one of those super scheduled tourists...boring! Lastly, make friends with the locals! You’ll be sure to have an entirely different (and in my opinion, better) experience.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?

Honestly, everything. People, places, colours, light, music, smells. The world is such a beautiful place and there is a never ending supply of stimulation and inspiration. I especially love sunrises and sunsets though. That time of day can make anything look magical.

FAVOURITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS TO FOLLOW?

At the moment my favourite pages are...

WORDS TO LIVE BY?

Spread love wherever you can. Whether it be a simple smile to a stranger, complementing someone on their outfit, donating money to a person in need, or even just replying to someone on Instagram... you never know when you could make someone’s day. The world can never have too much love. So give it freely and remember to accept it freely too. You deserve it just as much as anyone.

HEALTH + FITNESS SECRETS?

I eat plant based 99% of the time and try to get my body moving at least once a day. I’ll do a ‘proper’ workout five-ish times a week and something light on the other days... generally a beach swim or walk to a cafe for breakfast. Life’s all about balance though, so if I skip a workout or eat something with a bit of dairy in it, I’m not too bothered. I just live to make my body feel good and if that includes pizza and Netflix all day long then that’s exactly what I’ll do!
