WHAT IS YOUR JOB ROLE HERE AT NAKEDVICE?
I'm the Customer Care Manager & Wholesale Assistant.
WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE OFFICE?
An obsession with reality TV, True Crime podcasts & last night's leftovers. Also being one of the newest members of the team I think I bring an eagerness to learn and LOTS of questions.
PRIOR TO NAKEDVICE, WHAT WERE YOU DOING?
I finished my Bachelor of Merchandise Management at RMIT in 2017 and went straight into an internship at a Brand Management Agency. Most people in my cohort went into Buying, Planning, Forecasting or Allocating so there were lots of areas to pursue (but for the time being, I couldn't imagine myself doing anything other than sales).
Shortly after completing that I spent four months of the year traveling around North & South America as well as Europe, meeting up with my boyfriend, parents and gal pals along the way. It was 48 hours after landing back in Melbourne I had my interview at Nakedvice and I started working here the following week, so 2018 was lots of fun and very touch and go. I'd say it would have to be one of my favourite and most memorable years so far.
YOU'VE TRAVELLED ACROSS THE GLOBE, BUT WE WANT TO KNOW... WHAT IS YOUR #1 TRAVEL DESTINATION?
I can’t pinpoint my #1 but top 3 would have to be:
- Sorrento, Italy for the beach
- Cusco, Peru for the history
- Ios, Greece for the cluuurbs
WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SUNNY LOOK LIKE?
On a weekday I’ll set my alarm for 6:00 and snooze it about three times before getting up- the fact that some people get out of bed after the first alarm honestly shocks me to my core. I’ll either drive or take the train to work depending on what seems quicker, and I’ll either listen to Ariana Grande’s new song, ‘7 Rings’ eight times on repeat or tune into an episode of Shameless Podcast until I arrive at the office.
When I get to work I'll have a coffee and work through emails until noon. Em and I take our lunch together and talk about pressing issues like US midterms, Victoria's Secret After Party outfit choices or the Jordyn Woods & Tristan Thompson cheating scandal.
After work I’m usually getting dinner with girlfriends most nights, either around the office in Abbotsford or closer to home in Bentleigh. Then I’ll see my boyfriend and if Married At First Sight is on, we will always be watching that together. He legitimately loves reality TV more than anyone else and it's one of the only shows he'll watch with me. You’ll notice I haven’t once mentioned the gym, but that might be a resolution me in the latter half 2019.
TELL US, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS TO FOLLOW?
My boyfriend will tell you I spend way too much time on Instagram so I have lots of favourites for lots of different things. Honestly, slide into my DMs if you want more… the list is never ending. But my overall favourite is @nakedvice of course!

WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST MENTOR / INSPIRATION?
My biggest inspirations would be my parents. They are such creative, hardworking and generous people and are certainly experts in their respective fields. I would consider both to be pioneers within their industry and they’ve taught me that you are never too important to be kind to people. My dad has always said that if you don’t do your job to the best of your ability you may as well give back your pay packet because you haven’t earned it.
I am also so inspired by Justine Cullen. Until recently she was the Editor-In-Chief of Elle Australia and she is a brilliant writer and seems to be loved by her staff which is a real testament to her character and manner. She is also a mum of three with a fourth on the way, so seeing her balance such a senior position and achieve so much professionally at a relatively young age while balancing work and personal life makes me think that it can be done! #yeahthegirls
WHAT IS YOUR GO TO OUTFIT?
I live in Melbourne so I might be a cliché for saying my go-to outfit always involves black. If I am dressing on a week day I’d say a black top tucked into vintage straight leg jeans, paired with my favourite pair of black Nakedvice leather boots and gold hoop earrings.
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS PEOPLE WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I am obsessed with skincare, I'm a Virgo, I've been to 35 countries and Sunny is actually my middle name. People think it's so strange that I don't go by my first name and when they learn this they often respond with, "oh, so Sunny isn't your real name then". I'd just like to clarify that it is my real name listed on my birth certificate and I can't be the only person in the world to go by their middle name, right?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE NAKEDVICE PIECE FROM OUR AW19 COLLECTION?
Good question… I’m obsessed with everything and my favourites change all the time (the Design team know what they’re doing) but I’d have to say:
- The Quinn Black because it's a timeless shape and I love the statement hardware
- The Leon Snake because I’m joining the short shoulder bag bandwagon. I’m also loving brown tones this season
- The Cyrus Heel because I can't get enough of skinny straps and I find myself wearing it on any day of the week (this is actually a season old but still relevant as we're repeating it in April)
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS TRYING TO START OUT IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
Appreciate every opportunity that you’re given, don’t be afraid to network, be prepared to work for free and always use your manners! Nobody expects you to know what you’re doing at the beginning so if you just show willingness to learn and a good attitude, people will be happy to take a chance on you.
It’s a small industry and you never know who you’ll cross paths with again so do your best to do right by others (I think that advice applies to life in general but consider this a reminder).
Also, speaking from experience, avoid losing the company credit card or vomiting on your first day. If you do though, people will forget eventually and you’ll get over it.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT NAKEDVICE?
The team is small so there’s plenty of opportunity to learn and get involved in all different departments and areas of the business. Everyone’s roles are super fluid and we pick up new skills all the time, so I feel like I’m constantly being challenged and staying stimulated.
I absolutely love the office environment and feel like I’m walking in to see my girlfriends each day rather than just colleagues. We have an all-female team and our bosses are so supportive of our goals and career progression so it’s great to be encouraged and it makes me want to be better at my role because I know how hardworking everyone else is! We also have a resident office dog, a Hungarian Vizsla pup, named Daryl who belongs to Jessie (one of the Co-Owners) and he is always on standby for cuddles.
