2018 was the year that red head emoji's were created and the world was divided over a simple recording, is it Yanny or is it Laurel? Every 9 year old girls dream to become a princess became a reality for Meghan Markle, and my dream of marrying Justin Bieber was shattered by Hailey Baldwin. Forbes announced that 21 year old Kylie Jenner's net worth is over 900 million dollars, meanwhile the rest of us 20-something-year-olds were looking for coins in old pant pockets for the McDonalds loose change menu. Tristian Thompson was caught publicly cheating on Khloe Kardashian and our faith in men was destroyed. Fortunately Ariana Grande released 'Thankyou Next' and proved that we can get through any type of heart break.
Pop culture aside, 2018 was also a big year for fashion. It was the year that we collectively put our clutches away and put our bumbags on, we traded our fedoras for bucket hats and swapped our heels for sneakers.
Lets take a look at the year that was and appreciate these five fashion trends that surfaced in 2018.
1. Dad sneakers!
Can I get an amen. These were quick to become an essential to every girls wardrobe, and they are comfortable... No complaints here.
2. The short strap shoulder bag!
We threw it back to the noughties period and got fashion advice that was HOT.. And not just for the Hiltons!
3. Bike shorts!
They became not only socially acceptable, but actually cool.
4. Cowboy boots!
These went from being strictly for the Rodeo to being seen along Rodeo Drive. Yee-haw!
5. Pairing sport and corporate attire!
This was all the rage... I'm definitely doing this all of 2019 / forever.
