COURTSIDE WITH MIA SAVIO

We caught up with Melbourne IT-girl, Mia Savio whilst she was in town for The Australian Open. From court-side fashion to hidden gems in the city, Mia shares her behind-the-scenes adventures and must-know tips for making the most of this iconic Melbourne event.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I was born in Melbourne and grew up in Melbourne. Shortly after I met my boyfriend 3 years ago we moved to Monte-Carlo, Monaco. I now spend my time travelling with him and living between Monaco and Melbourne.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GRAND SLAM?

My favourite grand slam is the Australian Open, of course. I played tennis growing up for many years and my dad would take me to watch the Australian Open every year. Not only is it my favourite slam for the nostalgia but also the atmosphere and overall laid-back vibe.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR SECRET TIPS FOR A GOOD DAY AT THE TENNIS?

My top tip is to not forget your sunglasses, I’ve been in this situation one too many times.

I would also say to go earlier in the tournament when the first and second-round matches are on, that way you can watch matches on the outside courts, rather than in the stadiums. Personally, this is more entertaining as you are closer to the action and more times than not it’s a close match that comes down to the last tiebreak.

WHAT IS YOU AND MATTEO ARNALDI’S FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WHILE ON TOUR?

Our favourite activity to do whilst travelling is collecting the Diptyque City candles. These are unique candles that Diptyque sells only in the city that the candle is representing. We also love this activity because the flagship stores are usually in the best area of that city, leading us to explore that suburb.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PLAYERS TO WATCH?

My boyfriend, of course, although it can be stressful at times.

My favourite female tennis players are Coco Gauff and Ajla Tomljanovic.

WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO OUTFIT FOR A BUSY DAY AT THE TENNIS?

For a long and busy day at the tennis, I tend to prioritise comfort. Comfort for me looks like a matching set or jeans and a singlet. I always bring a jacket or shirt with me because you never know when you’ll need it (especially in Melbourne).

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE OUTFIT THAT YOU’VE WORN AT THE 2025 AO?

It was a 30-degree day and I was going to the tennis with my best friend. I wore mini shorts from my friend’s brand, Mode Mischief Studios, with a top I made from a Hermes scarf I bought from a vintage store in Paris. I paired it with the Luna Burgundy Bag and matching Dolly Burgundy Heels. Sometimes it’s difficult to wear a stylish outfit on an extremely hot day, but I managed to show my personal style and be comfortable for the day with this outfit.

MOST WORN NAKEDVICE PIECE?

My most worn Nakedvice piece has to be the The Enzo Oat Pant. I wore these as soon as I picked them up from the Nakedvice boutique and have barely taken them off. They’re so comfortable, yet flattering and chic.

MIA’S GUIDE TO MELBOURNE

FAVOURITE COFFEE SPOT:
The Morning Market in Prahran, they make a good, strong coffee. My go to order is a soy latte.

FAVOURITE LUNCH SPOT:
One of my favourite foods is Japanese. Sozai on High Street is really good quality and fresh. It’s also one of my favs to get take out from.

FAVOURITE DINNER SPOT:
My boyfriend is Italian so showing him different Italian restaurants in Melbourne has been hit or miss, he is extremely picky (fair enough). Café e Cucina is consistently amazing and the intimate setting is perfect for a date night.

FAVOURITE SPOT FOR A DRINK AFTER THE TENNIS:
Gilson for sure, it’s a walk away from the grounds in a beautiful setting opposite the botanical gardens. There’s always people there and the atmosphere is very uplifting.

FAVOURITE PLACE FOR AN OVERNIGHT STAY:
My home! I’ve always stayed with family or friends in Melbourne and recently my boyfriend and I got our own space. However, I’ve heard very good things about Melbourne Place, a new boutique hotel in the city.

FAVOURITE PLACE FOR VINTAGE SHOPPING:
Swop in Brunswick is one of my favourites, their collection is large but not overwhelming.

FAVOURITE MARKET:
South Melbourne Market has everything and more. The fresh seafood there is outstanding along with the paella.
