IG + TIKTOK HANDLE?
HOMETOWN?
Port Lincoln, South Australia. A small fishing town with some of the best beaches in the world!
IT'S HAPPY HOURS, WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING?
It's been a bit of a mystery on my dinner dates as to what my food and allergy is... well ready for the big reveal... I'm actually allergic to alcohol! So it's a hot chocolate for me at happy hour!
WHAT WAS THE IDEA THAT STARTED YOUR THURSDAY DINNER DATES?
I moved to Melbourne just before the pandemic, I went though a breakup and found myself pretty isolated in a new city. Making friends as an adult can be really hard so I decided to take a proactive approach and really put myself out there. Safe to say I couldn't have dreamy of the response and it's been a wild rollercoaster ride since.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR MEETING NEW FRIENDS?
I encourage everyone to apply a dating mindset to their friendships. We put so much energy into finding our partner and maintaining our relationships, imagine if we put the same energy into making new friends.
Keep it casual and be clear with your intentions as it wasn't until I told people I was hoping to make new friends that the offers rolled in. A simple "I love your style! I'm looking to make new friends this year and would love to have coffee some time!" Is perfect!
if you're still feeling stuck use me as your gateway by sharing a post of mine and inviting others to join you.
MUST-VISIT RESTAURANTS IN MELBOURNE?
Okay - my favourite silver lining of this experience has been trying so many new places! I usually ask my dinner guest if they have a favourite go-to spot we can try.
I recommend Hazel for the baby kipflers. Matilda for the wood fire steak. Hope Street Radio for the focaccia.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER IN SOCIAL MEDIA?
I've spent the last 10 years working in organic social media. I like to call myself head of the community, but I am proudly one of Australia's first Heads of Social Media with my complete background firmly rooted in organic social media management. I've built my career leading the strategy and teams of social media specialists behind some of Australasia's leading retailers.
My career highlights include the launch of MECCA's Facebook group, MECCA Chit Chat and TikTok channel. Winning the Northern Territory Tourism account while leading the Social Media team at KWP! and advising on Federal and National Elections.
I now lead the social media team at Chain Social where I was on-boarded to set up a new exciting agency working across beauty and fashion brands.
I studied psychology and marketing and was hustling on the side creating Instagram posts as a hobby. When I was deciding on a career, social media wasn't an option, Instagram had only recently launched. My career grew from a passion and endless fascination with the space. I like to think it's the perfect combination of my skillsets, both creative and strategic.
I love the opportunity to connect directly with the consumer. It's such a privilege to show up in someone's feed as a brand, you can never take that for granted. You have to always add value and connect.
ADVICE FOR PEOPLE TRYING TO GET A JOB IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
Yes, if you need to know the platforms but work on your multimedia skills. If I could go back, I would up-skill in graphic design and videography. You don't need to have a big following yourself, most social media managers I know, the best ones actually, don't even have a social presence themselves. They are too busy executing for brands!
YOUR GO-TO BEAUTY PRODUCTS?
Sunday Riley's Luna Oil is my most repurchased beauty item. I've been using this for 5+ years and my skin loves it. It's an overnight oil and I was up with the most glowy, bouncy skin!
A lightweight concealer matched to my skin tone so I can pop it on bare skin and go! My go-to is the Kosas 'Revealer Concealer'.
A good tubular mascara. I use MCoBeauty 'XTendLash Mascara' in black brown. It's the perfect level of lengthening and longevity. And the dark brown tone is so much more natural than a black mascara for an everyday look.
Go-To's 'Fancy Face Cleansing Oil' is my nightly treat. I am a double cleansing gal and if you're serious about skincare you know how luxurious a cleansing oil is as a second cleanse. This one smells amazing.
YOUR STYLE ICON?
Growing up on social media, I look to the everyday girl for outfit inspo. I lov an OOTD or an unboxing of someone's latest shopping haul. Some of my favourite fashion accounts to follow currently are:
TOP NAKEDVICE PICKS?
The Nancy Boot is going to be my entire personality for the rest of the season - obsessed! The Maxwell Jean is the perfect slouchy fit, a new wardrobe staple.
