MEET THE MODEL: CYNTHIA TAYLU
Introducing Cynthia Taylu, the face behind our debut apparel campaign, JAC. Winning Australia’s hearts for her sweet heart and positive energy on Love Island Season 1, Cynthia has since launched her modelling career with some of Australia’s top fashion and beauty brands. We sat down with the model who brought our campaign to life to discuss life, fashion inspo and her new podcast.
STAR SIGN?
I'm a Virgo.
THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP?
Have a shower. As someone who doesn't drink coffee, showering gives me the energy I need and puts me in the mindset to tackle the world.
YOU CAN'T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT?
Moisturiser and lip balm. I hate the feeling of dry skin or chapped lips. I just can't do it.
GO-TO DRINK?
Well during the day, water or some kind of tea. I'm a tea addict. But at a party/night time, Vodka, Lime and Soda.
THE BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
'The Four Agreements'. It really changed my perspective on the way I view the world, the human condition and formulating my own opinions about things rather than being persuaded by gossip - truly recommend it.
Also, 'To Kill A Mockingbird' really moved me and cemented how racial divide is ingrained within us.
PODCAST RECOMMENDATIONS?
I'll have to shamelessly say my own podcast, Taylu which is available on Spotify and iTunes. It's brought so much happiness into my life. The guests I've had on my pod are so open and raw. We've chatted about so many things from mental health, to boyhood... there's so many interviews I've been doing recently and I can't wait to share more.
FAVOURITE SONG?
Too many to choose from, depends on my mood and how I define myself at that particular time. At the moment I'm really obsessed with the song 'What Once Was', by Her's.
THE MOVIE YOU CAN WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
'Avatar'. Everytime I watch it I discover something new. Also who's excited for Avatar 2? I know I am.
TOP TRAVEL DESTINATION?
Hard one, but I would love to return to Europe and travel to the South of France, Spain, Copenhagen and all those Pinterest locations.
GO-TO OUTFIT?
Denim jeans, a cute tee and oversized leather jacket with black vintage boots and a Nakedvice bag to complete the look.
YOUR STYLE ICON?
Honestly my friends inspire me the most when it comes to style. Hayley, Dee, Brayden and Kimi. They are not afraid to be themselves and experiment with their style. We do lots of op-shopping as a collective and most of all, we like to have fun with our style.
FAVOURITE PEOPLE TO FOLLOW ON IG?
@devonleecarlson - she seems like such a kind soul and I love her style. She always keeps it fun.
@monicapuddy - obsessed with her kind nature and ability to speak about social issues online.
@lolathompson - her content is fire and so incredibly striking.
@j.rubach - Jem keeps it real, regardless of what she's doing she's a style queen, down to earth angel and so hard working.
@bellathomas - her content is insanely beautiful, inspo always.
@_yanyanchan - so inspiring, I've followed her for so many years and never get sick of her content.
FAVOURITE PHOTO FROM YOUR IG?
A photo I posted on April 26 of this year. It was from a creative shoot I did with a bunch of legends. The first time I ever tried bleached brows and I remember feeling so fearless on that shoot and really loved the images. This particular image is very stripped back, just me, the lens and the photographer. There's something that feels really intimate about this image and I love that.
ADVICE TO GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Timing is everything.
Everyone has their own time and you just have to do your own thing and not compare yourself to others.
